Accurate Gets Jiggy in the Keys

I  recently attended the Miami Billfish Tournament to watch the Sailfish Wizards do their magic with Miss Brit taking the Honors and on the way stopped in Key West to test a couple new products as well as the New Accurate Rods recently introduced.

I met up with “Hitman” Eddie Carmen of Biscayne Rod Fame to burn some drags and bend some rods. After a

look at what was a favorable window in the weather and hit some wrecks to do a little reef fishing. The Donkeys (amberjacks) were all ready to play and found several areas where the bite was full speed and the fish averaged about 30 lbs but found a couple that went over forty. After pulling on these formable opponents, it was evident that the little two speeds B2-870, B2-665N, and a new addition to be seen soon were getting the best of them.

We needed to get some fish for the barbeque so we ended up focusing on getting some snappers including a couple reds, a margate, one grouper, and a couple other edible bottom dwellers to feed the family.

This trip turned into the two speed tango with a lot of fish being strong and getting their head down but once the little two speeds got into low gear the fight turned into loaded rod with a constant steady wind and the fish made it to the surface quickly.

The rod and reel combo made the fishing experience of these aging anglers a lot more fun and alleviated the aches and pains from a day of hard pulling reef monsters.

Can’t wait to get back to here again soon to watch “Hitman” Eddie enjoying his favorite passion, Donkey fishing on the wrecks.
